Vauxhall RoadTrip app keeps journeys on track

RoadTrip, a new iPhone app that has just been released by Vauxhall, provides drivers with a fast, simple way to track their business journeys.

The free new app offers a range of smart features for tracking business miles, to make creating mileage claims quicker and easier. It simplifies the process by allowing drivers to automatically build up a library of locations and favourite journeys, without needing to enter the same information more than once.

RoadTrip goes further than other smartphone map applications by suiting its functionality to drivers; especially those calculating business expenses.

The app allows users to choose from any vehicle from Vauxhall, as well as other manufacturers, enter a destination and plan a route. The app can then work out any mileage rates, what the journey will cost and any other likely expenses.

Vauxhall recognises that the end of a business day is not always the end of the working day. RoadTrip has been developed to include a selection of utilities that make business drivers’ lives easier by simplifying their administration.

The application produces previews of expense reports that can then be emailed as CSV files that company car users can then send to their managers or other staff.

The app is designed to reduce errors and make accounting for business trips more accurate. All essential data can be backed up, password protected and accessed on other devices.

“When travelling on a daily basis, recurring expenses can cause frustration for employees,” said Steve Catlin, Vauxhall’s Fleet Marketing Manager. “The RoadTrip app combines navigational tools with smart calculation software to offer an easy-to-use app for any employee on the road.”

The RoadTrip app can be downloaded from the App store now – search for ‘Vauxhall RoadTrip’.

Yara launcheds the first Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) Mobile Application

Today Yara, the world’s largest diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) producer, launched the first ever DEF locator mobile app which uses GPS technology to identify the DEF retail outlets closest to a driver’s location. The Air1® DEF Mobile Locator, the official application of Air1, is currently available for free download in the iTunes app store for use on the iPhone, iTouch, and iPad. Yara also plans to release an Android and Windows 7 compatible version of the app at the beginning of August and September respectively.

America’s diesel-powered vehicles equipped with selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology rely on DEF to meet the EPA’s 2010 heavy-duty engine and vehicle emissions standards and to make sure their engines run efficiently. Consequently, easy access to high quality DEF, such as Yara’s Air1 brand, is essential for all drivers to ensure that their vehicles keep running and that the SCR technology in their engines remains in pristine condition. Drivers who download the Air1 DEF Mobile Locator app will now always know where the closest retail location is whenever they need to fill up or top off their tanks with high quality DEF.

“Currently, more than 35 percent of drivers own smart phones and approximately two thirds of those drivers are downloading apps,” said Chad Dombroski, Yara’s Director of Air1. “The Air1 DEF Mobile Locator was developed as a tool to help save drivers’ time and make their lives a little easier by allowing them to quickly find out where they can refill their tanks with quality DEF while on the road,” Dombroksi continued. As the first DEF app of its kind, the application allows operators to:

- Find more than 600 retail outlets in the U.S. selling DEF near or along their route
- Search by city, state, or zip code for a DEF retail outlet
- Pick up a driver’s location via GPS then calculate the distance and provide directions from their location to the nearest DEF retail outlet
- View the address and map location of various retail outlets selling DEF

Yara has a number of supply relationships with petroleum marketers, oil distributors, service stations, and truck stops across the United States and Canada that sell the company’s Air1 brand of DEF. This retail network will be featured in the Air1 DEF Mobile Locator app to improve drivers’ ability to find DEF retailers easily. The retail location information is supplied by Yara and will be updated on the app each month.

Nuevas aplicaciones de Audi para los amantes de los deportes del motor

The 2011 version of the "Audi Sport" App for both the iPhone and iPod Touch is available as an update to download for free from the App Store in time for the Audi R18 TDI prototype’s race debut in the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup (ILMC) at Spa this weekend. The App gives journalists and fans the opportunity to be permanently up-to-date even when they are travelling.

In 2010 race reports, results, photos, sound bites and videos were already standard content for the Audi Sport App, which can now claim more than 40,000 downloads. The latest version is not only adapted to suit the brand’s new motorsport look. It also offers numerous new functions and features such as an expanded“Live Ticker”that actually shows which driver is at the wheel during endurance races, 360 degree images of the race cars, interactive introductions to the race tracks and wallpapers. Accredited media representatives can take part in the popular Audi DTM sweepstakes when on the move, view media appointments and order TV footage. The App was also adapted to the iPhone’s retina display.

Audi is also a step ahead of the competition on the popular iPad: a digital "Audi Express" iPad edition, which reviews the race weekend and also delivers a look behind the scenes of Audi’s multifaceted motorsport program, is published after every DTM and Intercontinental Le Mans Cup (ILMC) race. The "Audi Express" displays media information released by Audi Communications Motorsport in multimedia format and should supply journalists with stimulus for their own reports. The digital "Audi Express", which is published every Tuesday after a race, is also available to download for free for all motorsport fans.

Like the race cars, both Apps are developed throughout the season and new features made available for users in the form of updates via the App Store.

La aplicaciĂłn del Rolls-Royce Phantom, ahora disponible en la App Store

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars today announced the Rolls-Royce Phantom App is now available on the App Store. The Rolls-Royce Phantom App for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch allows clients and Rolls-Royce enthusiasts to create highly bespoke virtual models, including the ability to apply unique colour and interior trim combinations. The Rolls-Royce Phantom App also features an image gallery showcasing bespoke features such as seat piping, veneer inserts, humidor and picnic sets.

Rolls-Royce prides itself on a palette of 44,000 colours for Phantom and the app lets users create the most esoteric and individual of exterior finishes. The Bespoke Colour Match feature allows limitless and unique single and two-tone paint designs. Using an iPad, iPhone or iPod touch camera, users could capture - for example - the colour of a favourite lipstick or luggage then apply it directly to the exterior of their virtual Phantom.

Nearly all Phantom buyers demand some bespoke elements for their cars and the Rolls-Royce Phantom App showcases many popular options. One example is starlight headliner, a feature where hundreds of illuminated optical fibres are woven into the roof lining of the chosen Phantom model. Users can experience this interior ambiance interactively, thanks to the app’s ability to turn up or down the degree of illumination.

The Rolls-Royce Phantom App features 360-degree exterior views and three interior angles from the front, side and rear seat. It can be used to configure Phantom, Phantom Coupé and Phantom Drophead Coupé and follows the launch of the Rolls-Royce Ghost App in March last year.

Rolls-Royce Phantom and Rolls-Royce Ghost Apps are available free of charge from the App Store on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch or at www.itunes.com/appstore
