Skyscanner launches Android app in same week that iphone app reaches 2 million downloads

On Tuesday (19 July), Skyscanner’s hugely successful ‘All flights, everywhere’ iPhone app reached another milestone with 2 million downloads. The free app which launched earlier this year to critical acclaim, generated over 100,000 downloads within the first week and Skyscanner hopes to replicate this success with the launch of an Android version of the app on Thursday (21 July).

The new app allows Android smartphone owners to use Skyscanner on the move and find the cheapest flights from their handsets. Available in 23 languages and over 50 currencies, the app compares over 600 airlines and thousands of routes in seconds.

Barry Smith, Skyscanner director of Mobile commented:

“We have been delighted with the global success of both versions of the iPhone app and are now expecting a high demand from Android users looking for the same functionality from the convenience of their phone.”

From 21 July the new Skyscanner ‘All flights, everywhere’ app will be available to download. Visit: https://market.android.com/details?id=net.skyscanner.android.main
