"We recently made a milestone for the BMW Group," said Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG, Norbert Reithofer, on the sidelines of the two models debut in Frankfurt recently.
"As a manufacturer of luxury cars, we have been storing wishful thinking in order to offer electric cars to consumers."
I3 Concept BMW comes with zero-emission electric drive and capable of achieving mileage of 150 kilometers. This car was designed specifically for the city. With 125 kW electric motor and rear wheel, this car presents a typical BMW driving dynamics.
All this thanks to the architectural design in the form of carbon LifeDrive passenger cell, which allows the BMW Concept I3 has a very light weight, only 1250 pounds.
This car had four seats and the trunk with a volume of 200 liters, it is suitable for everyday cars.
Revolutionary design
Reithofer said, this car launch marks the first time a production vehicle that most of his body made from carbon. "This is a design revolution in the automotive world," he said.

This car can reach speeds of 100 kilometers per hour from a standstill in less than five seconds, with fuel consumption of less than three liters for a distance of 100 kilometers.This car is equipped with high beperforma machine with capacity of 3 liters. As a sports car, BMW i8 capable of racing with a maximum speed of 250 kilometers per hour.
"This latest generation of sports car can seat four passengers," said Reithofer.
BMW and BMW i8 I3 will be produced at the BMW factory in Leipzig, Germany. BMW has prepared an initial investment of 400 million euros, or about Rp 4, 9 billion for building and setting up new facilities in 2013.
